About Rebeka

Re (again) + beka (isiZulu: to place). Rebeka is a clinical placement management platform built for nursing and midwifery education across emerging markets. Launching first in Nigeria, with South Africa as the reference implementation.

The name reflects what programme coordinators do every semester: place learners in clinical facilities, again and again, across qualification pathways and provinces — a process that has long relied on phone calls, WhatsApp messages, and spreadsheets. Rebeka gives that work the digital infrastructure it deserves.

Why this matters

Nursing education systems globally train tens of thousands of learners each year across hundreds of institutions in multiple markets. Every learner needs thousands of clinical hours in diverse facilities — hours that must be tracked by clinical domain, verified by clinical facilitators, and reported for regulatory accreditation. This challenge is universal across Nigeria, South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, and beyond.

Coordinators globally manage this process through an improvised patchwork of tools. Capacity information lives in individual coordinators' heads. Attendance is recorded on paper. Hour calculations happen in personal spreadsheets. The result is duplicated effort, lost clinical learning opportunities, and compliance gaps that surface during regulatory accreditation reviews.

Rebeka addresses these challenges with a system designed for emerging market infrastructure realities — low connectivity, intermittent power, and the need for clinical facilitators at rural facilities to participate without downloading an app or spending data. Works on 2G, during outages, via SMS.

Design principles

Built for connectivity challenges

Server-rendered pages, offline-first hour logging, and SMS attendance verification. Rebeka works on 2G and during power outages — anywhere connectivity is unreliable.

Regulatory-aligned from the ground up

Hours tracking structured around local competency domains and qualification pathways (NMCN for Nigeria, extensible to 11 markets). Not a generic tool with local labels — the regulatory framework is in the data model.

Institutional sovereignty

Each institution controls its own data. Cross-institutional coordination happens through shared facility capacity views, not by centralising learner records.

Priced for the sector

International clinical placement management software costs R300,000+ per year. Rebeka is priced to stay within institutional procurement thresholds, with no per-user fees and no multi-year lock-in.

Assessment narrative generation

Rebeka integrates with ProPrecept, an AI-assisted tool that helps clinical facilitators transform brief observation notes into structured, NMCN-domain-aligned assessment narratives.

This addresses a well-documented challenge in nursing education: the gap between clinical learning that happens and clinical learning that gets documented. ProPrecept does not replace professional judgement — it helps ensure that supervisory observations are captured in the language and structure that accreditation reviews require.
